After leading a series of reading groups at PUBLICS (2021-22) Jo was commissioned to write a contribution to The Voice That Remains, Published by PUBLICS and Lugemik 2023. Listening bodies Leaning In is an essay in which Jo reflects on the experience of collective reading and listening.

‘As more voices and bodies come together in the space, more opportunities for ignition and threading begin to surface. Through the act of hearing, other voices wrap themselves around the language, and through discussions that emerge in a shared reading format, an aliveness to the words is engendered. There is at once more distance and more intimacy in the experience of digesting written language.’
