Jo is an artist, producer and photographer working with images, film and writing. Her work explores the relationship between memories, senses & emotions - thinking about how knowledge is held in our bodies. She is interested in the connections between people and place, and what it means to create community.
Jo is based in the North East of England, where she collaborates with cultural organisations, schools and community groups across creative, community-led and educational projects. She has worked as a lead Artist (education) with Amber Film & Photography Collective since 2014 and is currently a freelance community producer with New Writing North.
Jo holds an MA in Photography from Aalto School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Finland and a BA (Hons) in Photography from The University of The West of England. She has been artist in residence at ISSP Latvia, and taken part in Trojan Horse summer school Finland. Jo has presented projects and exhibitions in the UK and internationally, including: Neurotitan Gallery Germany, Maltinranta Arts Centre Finland, and White Cloth Gallery UK. Jo was commissioned by PUBLICS to write an essay for a publication called ‘The Voice That Remains’ 2023 (Published by PUBLICS & Lugemik).
